1. Exhilarating Zip Wire Trip from Spain to Portugal

Sanlúcar de Guadiana offers the only cross-border zip wire in the world – definitely one to add to your bucket list! The 720m zipline transports you from Spain across the Rio Guadiana to Alcoutim. Enjoy stunning views as you glide over woodlands and the river below before arriving in Portugal.

During this adventure, you’ll gain an hour, due to the time difference, making it a fun way to make the most of your holiday time. Be sure to check the company’s opening times and dates in advance to avoid disappointment. Pre-booking is recommended as this is a very popular activity.

2. Jak’s Paddle & Plod

As a guest at Casa Verde, you have the exclusive opportunity to embark on a scenic journey along the stunning Guadiana River. Your skipper, Jak, will guide up to eight guests on a tranquil boat trip through this breathtaking waterway.

Keep an eye out for the vibrant azure-winged magpies and striking kingfishers as you glide peacefully along the river. Guests have the option to stop for a relaxing lunch (guests cover the cost of their meal).
Afterward, you can choose to stroll back along the picturesque riverbank or sail back with Jak. The itinerary is fully customisable to ensure a memorable experience tailored to your group. Prebooking of this trip is recommended.

3. Go wild on a Bushcraft Adventure

Spend an unforgettable day with our very own “Bear Grylls” on an exciting bushcraft adventure by the stunning Rio Guadiana River!

The day will run from 09:00 to c15:00 with around a 5-mile walk for guests to get close to nature.

During the day you will:
🌳 Explore the countryside around Sanlúcar de Guadiana.
🐾 Look out for wild boar tracks and identify bird calls.
🍃 Forage for food and find safe drinking water.
🔥 Master fire-lighting skills without matches and cook lunch over an open flame.
🏊 Discover hidden swimming spots for a refreshing river swim.

The day is suitable for guests of 6 years upwards. Please bring good walking shoes/boots, swimwear (if swimming), drinks, sunscreen and a hat. Groups of between 4-8 people can be booked for each session.

4. Play Padel Tennis for free

There is an outdoor Padel court in the village, less than a five-minute walk from Casa Verde. We provide four Padel bats and balls for guests to borrow. The court is free to use, subject to availability.

5. Go wild or go local – swimming on your doorstep

There are several places to swim when you visit Casa Verde. Just 4 minutes away is a Lido-style swimming pool. Note that this seasonal pool is generally open from June to September.

Additionally, there are man-made riverside sand beaches in the village and across the river in Alcoutim, as well as other spots along the river. Take a river taxi and lounge on one of their comfortable settees to visit Alcoutim which takes less than 10 minutes.

Casa Verde has its own plunge pool with an outdoor shower- perfect for cooling off after a day of exploration.

6. Kayaking on the Rio Guadiana

Casa Verde provides access to a dinghy or you can hire kayaks locally in Sanlucar de Guadiana. Kayaking is a wonderful way to explore the river, spot the myriad of birdlife, watch for otters and enjoy the breathtaking landscapes of Spain and Portugal.

7. Village Pétanque

As the sun sets, enjoy a fun game of Pétanque or boules in the village. There is a pitch within a five-minute walk from Casa Verde. We provide a Pétanque set for guests to use during their stay, a perfect activity to enjoy with family or friends.

There are lots of things to do and see in this stunning part of southern Spain. Take a riverside walk and soak in the beautiful views of the Rio Guadiana. Immerse yourself in the surrounding countryside, passing orange, lemon, and olive groves as you breathe in the fragrant Andalusian air.
