What an amazing week. We’ve been planning to come to Sanlucar for a long time. How wonderful to have Casa Verde as our base. We couldn’t have asked for anything better – the views from the terraces, the luxury and comfort of the house, the outdoor home movie theatre. Sanlucar is amazing. We walked, kayaked, rowed, and celebrated two days of the Rabida festival. All the people we met were warm and friendly. The food in the bars was fabulous. Our only complaint……that we didn’t book to stay longer. We’ll be back next year…for two weeks at least.
Casa Verde – It’s a great place to stay!
Casa Verde is a beautifully appointed house in a quiet village on the river Guadiana opposite a small Portuguese town (Alcoutim). Great outdoor and indoor spaces. This was a great location for a friends get together. Limited in places in the village to eat in the evenings but we found great places to have lunch out in larger towns and more choice across the river…. foot passenger ferry available.
What a magical place Casa Verde is, making a visit to Sanlucar out of this world! The house is beautifully presented with all one’s needs covered. This is a beautiful area of undiscovered Europe. Interesting villages, great castles and good walks. Fantastic fireworks at New Year’s Eve. Warm enough to sit out on New Year’s evening and watch a film on the outdoor cinema. We will definitely return.
We had the most wonderful time at Casa Verde. Staying in the ‘winter’. Blue skies, warm sunshine and 22C on Christmas Day. It felt like the summer we never had! The house itself has everything we could need and was the perfect combination of homely with touches of luxury – Molton Brown toiletries and gorgeous bed linen. We were able to properly relax and unwind. Thank you for the lovely Christmas tree and decorations. We will be sure to stay again and we look forward to more adventures on the river and more freshly squeezed orange juice! Many thanks for everything.
We’ve fallen in love with Casa Verde. From evening dips in the plunge pool and watching an Osprey dive and catch a fish in the river, to taking the water taxi to Portugal for an evening meal and then watching a film in the outdoor cinema back at the house, we realised that 10 days was definitely not long enough! We’ll be back!
Fantastic holiday home in a lovely area. Lots to see and do, Casa Verde was very well equipped and the plunge pool and air con were fantastic as it was very hot whilst we were there. The boat was amazing as we could nip over to Alcoutim for a larger variety of restaurants. The kids loved the outdoor cinema with the big bean bags and the giant Jenga set. The different terraces provided everyone with a space to chill out and truly relax. Being just on the border with Portugal gave us lots of opportunities to explore. Would highly recommend.
Your first view of Casa Verde will set the scene for your holiday. With the river on your doorstep, breathtaking views from the terrace, a plunge pool to dive into, an outdoor cinema with tons of DVDs and the prettiest cottage imaginable, this is your perfect Andalucian retreat.
A really great holiday house which we enjoyed as a couple but a group or extended family would also enjoy as there are 3 terraces so always an escape available ! Bar with food 2 minutes walk and in Alcoutim on the opposite bank more restaurants and a delightful river beach where you can swim and bar with delicious barbecued sardines. Paddle boarding etc available in the season and highly recommend the zip wire. Jak the housekeeper was an absolute star.
